How a travel eSIM works
An eSIM is a SIM card built into your phone that is programmed by software instead of posted to you. That means a travel data plan can be bought, delivered and switched on without anyone handing you anything.
1. Choose your destination plan
Search your destination and pick a data allowance. Local plans cover one country; regional plans cover a whole area on a single profile, which is cheaper for multi-stop trips.
2. Pay and receive your QR code
Checkout is a single prepaid payment — no account required, no card stored, no renewal. Your QR code appears on screen and arrives by email within seconds.
3. Install, then connect on landing
Install over Wi-Fi before you fly. On iPhone (iOS 17.4+) a single install link does it in one tap; otherwise scan the QR code in your phone's mobile data settings. Turn the line on when you land and it registers on the local network automatically.
Installing on iPhone
On iOS 17.4 and later, the confirmation email contains a direct installation link. Tapping it opens Settings with the plan pre-filled — no QR scanning, no typing an activation code. On older iOS, go to Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM → Use QR Code.
Installing on Android
Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM, then scan the QR code from the email. If scanning is not possible, use the manual LPA activation string included alongside the QR code.
On arrival
Turn data roaming on for the eSIM line only, and leave your home line set to voice and texts. Your number keeps working, your home carrier never charges you for data, and the plan's validity begins the moment it first connects.
